Solution
Cergy Pontoise is a federation of 13 municipalities to the west of Paris, on the way to Rouen and the port of Le Havre,. At roughly 30 square miles, it is about the same size as Paris proper. With nearly 600 stops, the conurbation has a particularly extensive bus system. Service is extensive, with 1,600 bus departures every day, seven days a week, from 4:30 am to 1:20 am on weekdays. In total, some 72,000 passengers take the 114 STIVO buses every day.
STIVO was founded in 1974 by Cars Giraux and Cars Lacroix, to service what was then a brand new community. It has grown along with the conurbation. Today, STIVO is a subsidiary held by Lacroix Group and RATP Dev in equal equity interests. The buses are equipped with a real-time information system that announces stops for the visually impaired. Some have ramps to facilitate travel for disabled individuals or people with reduced mobility. In a bid to protect the environment, STIVO also regularly replaces its buses. They are 4.5 years old on average, making it one of the youngest bus fleets in the greater Paris area.
